Task
The UF College of Education holds an annual stakeholders’ day to honor the many college contributors. For 2024’s project, we created four videos focused on how the college’s traditions shape the curriculum and culture today.
My task was to animate graphics and curate B-roll for a minute-long pre-scripted video. Our team used a variety of historical assets iconic to the Norman Hall building to give a feeling of nostalgia to the video. We used current B-roll to highlight how modern staff, faculty, and students honor traditions of the college.
Process
With the designs and style locked in before I entered the project, I immediately started animating. I started by modifying the grid to animate at the pace I wanted. Once the overarching animation was complete, I began filling in the grid with texture. I combined a variety of graphics, fonts, and animation templates to create interesting compositions to transition between.
I also tried using compositions within the B-roll to direct attention within the grid. Preparing the viewer for the next transition played an important role in B-roll selection at certain points. I also worked with our communications team to center key figures at the college in noteworthy slots, recognizing some of the major stakeholders within this video.
